Why Membership Matters
Being a member of a church is a fundamental aspect of demonstrating your dedication to Christ and connecting with the church community.
Community
Scripture depicts the church as a close-knit community, emphasizing unity and belonging. Develop strong, meaningful relationships with fellow believers.
Accountability
Jesus appoints pastors to care for our souls. Being a member ensures you receive guidance, nurture, love, and teaching in a community of faith.
Digital & Local
Whether in Kokomo, IN or anywhere in the world, Soul Anchor’s Digital Campus welcomes you through its digital gates. Distance is no barrier.
Purpose
Membership is a commitment — to Christ, to the Word, and to one another. It is how we grow together in faith and serve our community.
Ways to Become a Member
Membership is open to anyone who commits to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and uphold the beliefs, customs, and teachings of God’s Word.
New Birth
A person who has been baptized (immersed) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost — speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance — as referenced in Acts 2:4 & 2:38.
Acts 2:4 & 2:38
Recognition
A person from another church assembly of like precious faith may be acknowledged as a member if they meet the criteria of New Birth membership. The Senior Pastor or designee must officially admit such persons.
Transfer of Faith
Affiliation
A Regular Attendee of 90 consecutive days who commits to supporting the Church financially and with service may be acknowledged as a member by the Senior Pastor or designee.
90-Day Commitment
Five Affiliation Classes
Soul Anchor classifies all persons who engage with the Church in one of five Affiliation Classes.
A person who has an ongoing relationship with the Church. They attend weekly services and events; however, they have not yet met the criteria for membership and are not official members.
A person who has met one of the membership criteria but for varying reasons is not prepared to become an official member — rather, they identify with the Church.
- The Senior Pastor determines the Watch Care Attendee’s level of participation on an individual basis.
- Watch Care Attendees shall have no voting privileges nor sit on the Board of Directors, unless they are members of another congregation (e.g., out-of-town students or workers on temporary assignments).
- Watch Care Attendees who are members of another congregation are expected to tithe, give offerings, and serve in any capacity they are qualified.
A person who has met the criteria outlined in Section 3.01 — by New Birth, Recognition, or Affiliation — and has been officially acknowledged by the Senior Pastor or designee.
A person who gains membership through 90 consecutive days of regular attendance and commitment to financial and service support.
- Members by Affiliation shall have no voting privileges nor sit on the Board of Directors.
- The Senior Pastor may ask Members by Affiliation to aid the Church in non-spiritual components of church programming.
- The Senior Pastor reserves the right to revoke this membership from persons who act in a manner that doesn’t align with the beliefs and traditions of the Church.
A person who is visiting the Church for the first time or occasionally. Guests are always welcome and encouraged to explore what Soul Anchor has to offer.
